SAN JOAQUIN CO., Calif. — John Roncoroni, UCCE Farm Advisor Emeritus, will present Challenges for Weed Management During and George Zhuang, UCCE Fresno County Viticulture Farm Advisor, will discuss Vineyard Water Management after a Wet Winter as part of the San Joaquin Valley Winegrowers Association’s 2023 Grower Education Series.
George is originally from China. He did his undergraduate studies in Viticulture and Enology at China Agricultural University between 2005 and 2009. After that he began his graduate studies in Horticulture at Michigan State University where he pursued a master’s degree focusing on cool climate viticulture. After graduating from Michigan State University, George was offered the opportunity to gain additional experience as a viticulture intern at E. & J. Gallo winery in Modesto during the 2013 and 2014 seasons. He started his career as Viticulture Farm Advisor for UCCE Fresno County in January 2015. Currently, his work has focused on drought/salt tolerant variety/rootstock evaluation, vine mechanization, water management and pest/disease management.
