SENECA CO., N.Y. — One hundred of anything is an accomplishment! So to celebrate the 100th Anniversary of Seneca County Farm Bureau, the organization is looking for farms that have been in the same family for at least 100 years.
If you know of one – or own such a farm, please contact the Seneca County Farm Bureau at [email protected] or call 315-252-1367.
Also if you have pictures, memorabilia or historical information from 100 years ago on a farm or anywhere in Seneca County please contact Seneca County Farm Bureau.
Seneca County Farm Bureau will hold their 100th Anniversary Celebration Extravaganza in December indoors at the site of Empire Farm Days on the Rodman Lott & Sons Farm on Rte. 414, Seneca Falls.
Organized in 1917, Seneca County was one of the first county Farm Bureaus formed in New York. Collectively the county Farm Bureaus make up the New York Farm Bureau that is based in Albany. Every state in the nation has a state Farm Bureau, and they make up the American Farm Bureau Federation based in Washington, D.C.
The focus of this grassroots organization is to show legislators, government officials and the general public the importance of keeping local and American farms thriving so they can produce safe, quality and diverse food for consumers.
Seneca County Farm Bureau President Ann Heizmann said, “All Seneca County residents will be invited to the Anniversary Extravaganza to celebrate locally produced food.”
