ACRA, N.Y. — The New York Nut Growers Association (NYNGA) will hold their 2023 summer meeting on Saturday, August 12th from 8:30am-3:00pm at the Cornell Cooperative Extension of Columbia & Greene Counties’ Agroforestry Resource Center, located at 6055 NY-23, Acra, NY 12405.
NYNGA is an all-volunteer, non-profit organization that promotes nut tree growing in New York State. It is not necessary to be a NYNGA member to attend, nut growing enthusiasts of all levels are welcome to meet with experienced growers at this event. Topics of discussion will include an introduction to host agency CCE of Columbia & Greene Counties, summer nut orchard topics, nut tree propagation using grafting and chip budding, yellowbud hickory oil, agrivoltaics (integrating crop production, silvopasture, and solar power), and an update on the NYNGA English Walnut Project. Attendees are welcome to bring nuts to eat, nuts to plant, nut tree products or nut-growing tools or items no longer needed to share or sell.
