BROWNWOOD, Texas — The Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service will present the Multi-County Range and Brush program on June 29 in Brownwood. The program will be held at the Adams Street Community Center, 511 East Baker.
Registration at 8:30 a.m. and the program begins at 9 a.m. Pre-registration is required before June 21. To register, contact the AgriLife Extension office in Brown County at 325-646-0386. There is a $50 registration fee that can be paid at the door.
Brush encroachment continues to be an expensive problem to deal with and, if left unchecked, it reduces grazeable acres for livestock and could make areas undesirable for wildlife. This program will help producers to learn how to control brush on their land.
Range and brush program topics and experts
The program will feature the following topics and speakers:
- Mechanical brush control: Morgan Treadwell, Ph.D., AgriLife Extension rangeland specialist, San Angelo.
- Range/pasture insect management: Greg Wilson, AgriLife Extension integrated pest management specialist, San Angelo.
- Range/pasture herbicides: Billy Campbell, Bayer Environmental Science range and pasture specialist, Idalou.
- Reducing pesticide drift: Scott Nolte, Ph.D., AgriLife Extension weed specialist, Bryan-College Station.
- Pesticide laws and regulations: Scott Anderson, AgriLife Extension agriculture and natural resources agent, Brown County.
