Some special highlights for this coming weekend, August 31–4, include:
Animal Bedtime Stories hosted by the Junior Fair Board – The first 25 children to come and read to the animals will receive a free book, Saturday night, September 2, from 7 PM – 8 PM, meet at U-Learn Barn in the Cow Palace.
The Holstein Futurity –The prestigious “Beauty Pageant” for cows, Thursday, August 31, 7 PM, Cow Palace.
Celebrity Milkshake Contest – American Dairy Association North East returns to the Maryland State Fair to host its Annual Undeniably Dairy Shake-Off Celebrity Milkshake Contest using local ice cream provided by the Maryland Farm Bureau Young Farmers. Celebrities, including local media personalities, will work with Maryland dairy farmers to create their own unique milkshakes to compete for bragging rights, and the coveted Undeniably Dairy Trophy. Friday, September 1, 11 AM, on the Maryland State Fair Park Free Stage.
Champions of Challenge Livestock Show – Youth with disabilities (ages 8-18) will partner with experienced exhibitors to meet, greet, groom, and exhibit a dairy cow. Sunday, September 3, 5 PM, Cow Palace Show Ring.
4-H Fashion Revue – Sunday, September 3, 3 PM, 4-H/Home Arts Building.
Maryland Dairy Princess Contest – The 61st annual Maryland Dairy Princess Contest has moved to the Maryland State Fair. Local dairy princesses from four regions will compete for the title starting at 7 PM, Friday, September 1, in the Cow Palace.
Maryland Foods Pavilion – Try out a variety of new Fair foods and fair favorites created by a variety of Maryland Foods Pavilion and Deggeller Midway vendors.
Maryland State Agency Exhibits – Several Maryland state agencies will provide a variety of interesting and informative exhibits, among them: The Department of Agriculture, The Department of Natural Resources Room, and the Comptroller’s Unclaimed Property Department (see attached press releases).
Pandemonium in Timonium Pig Show – The American Berkshire Association Swine Show presents a Berkshire Breeds Open Swine Show & Sale and an All-Breeds Junior Berkshire Swine Show. Labor Day Weekend in the Swine Show Ring.
