PORT ORANGE, Fla. — Learn how to harness the power of hydroponics during a free program at 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 20, at the Port Orange Regional Library, 1005 City Center Circle, Port Orange.
Leah Brooks, a gardening adviser for the Garden Rebel radio show and the Orlando Home & Garden Show, will present Gardening Smarter in Central Florida: Containers and Hydroponics. She’ll explain how to grow $100 worth of organic produce in less than five hours a month using techniques adapted to Florida’s climate.
Her tips will help home gardeners grow healthy plants in small spaces, add months to the growing season, say goodbye to weeds, and have fewer pest problems.
After her presentation, Chef Emily Mabe of Debbie’s Health Foods will demonstrate the preparation of healthy and delicious culinary creations using fresh-picked produce.
Reservations are not required. For more information, call the library at 386-322-5152, option 4.
