COOPERSTOWN, N.Y. — The New York Center for Agricultural Medicine and Health (NYCAMH) is launching a Farm Safety Art Contest this fall, open to any students ages 5-18 in NYS. Artwork can be submitted from September 18-November 15, 2023.
This contest is a chance for students across New York State to bring a safety message to life in their artwork. This year’s topic, “High Visibility: Be Safe by Being Seen,” is related to making yourself more visible when working around equipment or on rural roadways, or making your equipment more visible on the road. Artwork might highlight clothing or accessories you could wear while working around equipment or on the road, lighting and markings on equipment, or other facets of the importance of being visible.
This year, there are categories for both print and digital designs, allowing youth to get creative and use the medium they prefer. There will be first and second place winners in three age brackets for both print and digital categories. Additionally, there is a supplemental 30 minute lesson on High Visibility that could be requested to be done virtually with groups, clubs, or classes that would like to participate and learn more together.
Share this opportunity with any youth you work with, or any educators that might be interested in sharing this with their students. More information, including the guidelines and entry form, can be found at https://www.nycamh.org/news.php?id=995. Winners will be announced in December 2023.
Contact Christina Day at [email protected] or 607-547-6023 with any questions or to request the supplemental virtual lesson. NYCAMH, the New York Center for Agricultural Medicine and Health, is enhancing agricultural and rural health by preventing and treating occupational injury and illness.
