WATERBURY, Vt. — Farm biosecurity includes the preventative measures a farmer can take, to reduce the risks of infectious disease introductions and spread in their livestock. It means doing what you can to reduce the chances of an infectious disease being carried onto a farm/property by people, animals, equipment, or vehicles.
Dr. Julie Smith, along with Madeline Beaudry, will discuss what is involved in enhanced biosecurity for farmers, milk haulers, and receiving plants, at the 2023 annual meeting of the Vermont Dairy Industry Association. They will also talk about building resilience for everyday farm biosecurity practices that can help prepare for the worst.
Jana Kraft, UVM animal and veterinary sciences associate professor, will also give a presentation at the annual meeting entitled, Dairy Fat: Much Better Than Its Reputation.
