ITHACA, N.Y. — Dairy One is very pleased to announce a new partnership with CattleEye Autonomous Livestock Monitoring. This new artificial intelligence tool automates locomotion scoring for dairy cows. CattleEye is brand new to the United States, but it has been in use on farms in Europe and the United Kingdom. It takes only three components to get CattleEye installed and working on farms.
“CattleEye is a tool that is going to increase the value of hoof trimming programs on dairy farms,” said John Gloss, Director of Agricultural Management. “It will change how quickly a cow with a locomotion problem is found and moved into a treatment process.”
CattleEye requires an Internet connection on the farm, a security camera mounted over the entrance or exit of the milking parlor, and RFID tags for cow identification. The system’s artificial intelligence scanning will provide a score based on a cow’s walking gait, and then upload that information to its insights reporting page. This data can be integrated into a farm’s current herd management software as well as the CattleEye app.
“Lameness isn’t always easy to identify and track but CattleEye is going to change that for dairies,” said Gloss. “Thanks to its ability to continuously scan cows, record their walking, and store this data, CattleEye will be a real asset for farms.”
