HURON, S.D. – The 13th annual South Dakota Timed Event Championship (SDTEC) winner was Seth Gaikowski of Waubay, SD. Reserve All Around winner was Tierney Breen of Woonsocket, SD. The overall Horse of the Championship went to Dalton Porch of Kadoka, SD.
The South Dakota Timed Event Championship (SDTEC) sponsored in part by Panhandle, Heine Hybrid, and Double D Western, was held September 2 and 3 in Huron at the South Dakota State Fair.
The area’s elite youth rodeo contestants competed in six timed events, including tie-down calf roping, barrel racing, team roping, goat tying, breakaway roping and steer wrestling. Rodeo youth from across the country, ages 14 – 19 are eligible to compete for the title.
Other overall winners were Tyler Esser (Frankfort, SD) in Breakaway Roping, Keylee Zancanella (Aurora, SD) in Barrel Racing, Aubrey Moody (Letcher, SD) in Goat Tying, Paden Belkham (Blunt, SD) in Calf Roping, Tristan Spencer (Pierre, SD) in Steer Wrestling, and Hannah Schubert (Brainerd, MN) and Jace Tekrony (Clear Lake, SD) in Team Roping. The SDTEC continues to bring in contestants, their families, and fans to the State Fair, making it one of the premier events for spectators at the fair.
