ALLENTOWN, Pa. — State and county fairs are known for some crazy and delightful concoctions of food that tantalize the taste buds  of hardy fairgoing crowds—many deep fried and on a stick! 

For the 171st Great Allentown Fair coming up on Wednesday, August 30 and running through Labor Day  Monday, September 4, Allentown Fair President Daryl G. Urmy has challenged concessionaires to come up with a new  treat at their stands.  

Concessionaires are counting on fairgoers to belly up to their counters and try something new—at least new for  their menu of goodies offered at the fair.  

For his part, Urmy is going to award a prize for the best new item as chosen by fairgoers that have tasted and  voted for their favorite. 

Location-map ballots are available inside Agri~Plex and at both InFAIRmation booths, as well as at participating  food stands. Fairgoers may pick one up to guide them to the new foods and then cast their ballots for the best.  Completed ballots can be dropped at any entry gate, InFAIRmation booth or inside Agri~Plex. The stands participating  will be denoted by a red diamond shaped sign asking for fairgoers to VOTE!  

So ready or not, here comes the food!
